A creator's account is a street performer's regular corner

A stranger walks past. After meeting you a few times in the same place at the same hour, they finally stop. We help you keep that corner open every week.

5 min readmeok

On your way home there's someone who plays guitar on the same corner. The first time you just hear it as you pass. The second time you think, “oh, that person,” and slow down. One day you stop and hear a whole song. Growing your own account works like that. A crowd doesn't have to gather at once. You show up in the same place on fixed days with songs that are yours. Take this as a rule of thumb, not a measurement.

Why the same corner

A street performance doesn't start with an audience. It starts on an empty corner, and people who have passed a few times stop one by one. An account with no followers yet starts on the same empty corner. Nothing is wrong with that.

And a performer has a set list. Jazz today, folk songs tomorrow, a reading the day after, and a passer-by thinks, “what does this person do?” and walks on. People and accounts both get visited again when there's a set you can recognise.

  • The cornerYour account
  • The same hourA post on fixed days
  • The set listYour topics and a series people recognise
  • Someone who stopsA save, a reply, a follow

People stop more easily in front of something familiar. The one who stands in the same spot is remembered before the one who keeps changing corners.

Which songs to play

You don't need a new song every time. Play the same set in different shapes. Write as a person, in “I,” not as a shop.

  1. A first hello

Say in one card who you are and what you post. It's the first thing someone opening your profile looks for.

  2. A series with a name

Pick one named series. When the shape repeats, a passer-by recognises it at a glance.

  3. What I learned today

One thing you found out by trying. A post that comes from what you did outlasts a tip you made up.

  4. A tip worth saving

A small sequence or a checklist. The kind of post people save to come back to.

  5. A question that invites replies

Close on a question. When answers come in, people gather at the corner.

  6. Show the work you've done

A finished piece and how it was made, in one picture and two lines. If you're looking for people to work with, this post is your portfolio.

M Momo's Studio Notes

Hello, I'm Momo

I take photos and write in a small studio. I'll be here on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Today is the first studio note.

Studio note three: when the light comes in

Around three the light reaches the window. The photos from that one hour are the ones I like best.

Morning or night?

I work best in the morning with a pot of coffee on. When does it go best for you?

If you're thinking…

The four questions creators ask most before they begin.

“I have no followers yet”

That's fine. Every corner starts empty. Before any number, make it clear what the account talks about, and spend the first two days tidying the profile. For a new account the Grow page starts with a profile checklist. The routine is also in the warm-up guide.

“Will it post for me?”

Not yet. We make a month of text and pictures, you choose, and you copy and post them yourself. Posting straight to a channel opens one by one in the beta. We have not built anything that follows, likes or comments for you.

“Is this against platform rules?”

We haven't built the automated follows, likes and comments that terms forbid. Meok stops at search links for finding similar accounts and drafts of text; a person does the tapping. Terms differ by service and can change, so check them once before you post.

“I'm a business, not a creator”

It's the same Meok. If you run a shop, an app or a website, those pages fit better. If your face and voice are the work, start as a creator. What you choose at the start decides whether the writing sounds like a shop or like you. The Grow page is for everyone.

Fix the hour you show up

Three posts a week is plenty to begin with. Posting on the same days at about the same time makes the hour easy to remember. As it gets familiar, add one at a time. The 10–15 minute Grow missions fit in the days between posts.

The days are an example. Picking days you can keep matters most. This pace is a rule of thumb, not a guarantee of results.

The common mistake

The one we see most often.

What Meok does

We'll write out the set list. Standing on the corner is yours.

  • A month in your voiceWe read your tone from your link and what you upload, then write a month of posts that start in “I.” People's writing, not a shop introduction.

  • Fitted to your goal and stageWe ask whether you want followers, work with others, sales or just to share, and where your account is now, then fit the angle and rhythm of the posts.

  • Grow page: 10–15 minutes a dayWe pick today's missions and build search links for finding similar accounts. You tap each one and mark it done.

  • Comment and bio draftsPaste someone else's post and get three comment drafts; ask for your bio and get three drafts. Choosing and editing is yours.

  • A follower logType in your follower count when you like and we draw it as a small line. You enter the numbers, so they aren't read from the platform.

You hold the corner. We'll write out today's set list.
